The wonders of Christmas are
often lost in the busyness of the season. So much to do….
The time required to get it all done often exceeds the hours
given to a day.
While the reason for the
season is the Child… our precious Lord and Savior… the story
begins with a young girl, Mary. The Scriptures say, “The
angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly
favored! The Lord is with you -- Mary, you have found favor
with God.’” Luke 1.
We as women are indeed highly
favored; we bring into this world the children; we nurture
them, we hold them close to our hearts, sing to them, bind
their wounds and wipe their tears. We rejoice with them at
the simplest delights they find exploring…the World the
Father created; we comfort when they
hurt and assure
them it’s going to be okay; that we are here and are not
going to leave them.
We adorn our refrigerators
with artwork only a mother can see the beauty of. We see
their greatness long before they are able to fill the place
God has prepared for them.
Year after year, day after
day, we, like Mary, care for our child; we love; we nurture.
As Mary left the manger, surely, her heart and mind were
filled with the wonder of the events -- shepherds – the Wise
Men – the Gift. What a story she would tell her child.
After the season has passed,
do not forget the reason we as women are highly favored.
Tell the story again and again and again. The Christ child
grew and grew. One day he gave to you the best of all the
best – Himself – because He loves you!
