Thank you, Lord, for this sink full of
dirty dishes . . . we have good nutritious
food to eat. Thank you, for this pile of
dirty clothes, waiting to be laundered . . .
we have nice clothes to wear. Iím thankful
for these unmade beds, Lord . . . they give
us warmth and comfortable rest each night.
Iím thankful, Lord, for this untidy
bathroom, complete with splattered mirror,
soggy towels, and grimy lavatory . . . itís
still very convenient and certainly more
than my grandparents enjoyed. Thank you for
this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs
defrosting so badly . . . it contains enough
leftovers to furnish us with another meal.
Thank you for this oven that absolutely must
be cleaned today . . . it has baked us many
good things over the years.
Our whole family is grateful, Lord, for
that tall grass that needs mowing . . . we
all enjoy our private yard where so many
good family times have been shared. Thank
you for the slamming back door and the
clamor of neighborhood kids . . . my
children are healthy and able to run and
Thank you, Lord, for the very presence of
all these chores awaiting my attention . . .
they are reminders that You have blessed
this family so abundantly. Fill my heart
with more love, for You have blessed this
family so abundantly. Fill my heart with
more love for You and deeper thanksgiving as
I confront them cheerfully and gratefully.
